Compensating farmers for cheap grain imports |
Bratislava, 28.06.2023 |
|
During its meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, the EU Agriculture Council approved a support package for farmers, with Slovak growers set to receive over €5 million. The money is intended to help them deal with cheap grain imports from Ukraine and obstacles to the import of certain agricultural products from Kiev. The total package of €100 million will be distributed among five countries: Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. In this context, the European Commission (EC) proposed on Monday to mobilize additional funds of €330 million. The money will go to farmers in 22 member states affected by the climate crisis, high input costs and various market problems. Payments for the two support packages should be made by December 31, 2023. Member States will be required to inform the EC about the details of how the measures have been implemented.odkaz na stránku |
