Brusel, 01.12.2023 |
|
The European Commission has approved the first modification of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan for the period 2023 to 2027. This was informed by the Communication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MPRV) of the Slovak Republic. In addition to changing the definition of active farmer, according to the agro-ministry, the approved modification also includes other proposals that resulted from the requirements of partners within the application practice. These are proposals under standards for good agricultural and environmental condition (GAEC), eco-schemes, agroforestry systems and sectoral interventions.
MPRV recalled that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Richard Takáč (Smer-SD) initiated a bilateral meeting with EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski during the meeting of the Council of Agriculture Ministers in Brussels, at which he asked him to approve the first modification as soon as possible, and not until the end of the calendar year.
"This is extremely important and good news for Slovakia and Slovak farmers. I am pleased that Polish Commissioner Wojciechowski accepted my proposals and the modification has already been approved as of 30 November 2023. The changes aim to streamline processes and schemes for farmers. After the approval of the first modification, we will start preparing for the processing of the second modification," added Takáč.
Part of the modification process, which took more than three quarters of a year, included negotiations with the EC as well as with socio-economic partners. Minister Takáč also participated in the approval of the modification at the recent meeting of Agrifish agro-ministers in Brussels.
MPRV added that the decision approves an amendment to the strategic plan of the Slovak Republic for 2023 to 2027, which concerns support financed from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. |
