| The legislation brings an economic stimulus program with zero costs, said Justice Minister Marco Buschmann.
On Wednesday, the German government approved a bill to reduce the bureaucratic burden on businesses and residents. The planned changes concern various areas, including the Commercial Code, the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act or the rules on the payment of alimony. TASR informs about it based on the report of the DPA agency.
The legislation brings an economic stimulus program with zero costs, said Justice Minister Marco Buschmann. The law must still be discussed and approved by the Bundestag and the Bundesrat. Even before the government cabinet meeting, the minister expressed his understanding for critical voices from the business environment, according to which the new law does not go far enough. Bureaucracy must not only be reduced, but no new ones should be created, and this is also the task of the European Union (EU), said Buschmann.
"At a time when we have a shortage of qualified labor, we must not keep people busy with paperwork, we must enable them to focus on productive activities," the minister emphasized.
The German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) said that the legislation contained many correct measures, but called for its improvement in the framework of parliamentary discussions. Given the high burden of unnecessary bureaucracy and the still cumbersome administration in Germany, this is just one more important step, said Peter Adrian, president of the DIHK.
