| The first of the two mentioned factors is destroying jobs already today. "If we look at the past decade, the highest number, almost 562 thousand employees, worked in industry in the second quarter of 2019.We have the most recent data from the last quarter of 2023, when almost 504,000 employees worked in the industry, which is a decrease of 10.3 percent compared to the peak in 2019," states the latest analysis of the Institute for Strategies and Analyzes (ISA) at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic.In less than five years, 58,000 jobs disappeared. The industry has faced several challenges in recent years. From lockdowns to disruption of energy-intensive production due to the high price of electricity.
