| Jordan's Prime Minister Reshuffles Cabinet |
| Amman, 23.02.2009 |
 |
| AMMAN (AFP)--Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Dahabi has reshuffled his government which was formed just 15 months ago, replacing the foreign and interior ministers, a senior official told AFP on Sunday.
The new cabinet will be presented Monday to King Abdullah II.
The new lineup will see Nasser Judeh replace Salah Bashir at the foreign ministry while Interior Minister Eid Fayez is to be replaced by Nayef Qadi, who has held the post several times before, the official said.
Nabil Sharif, who currently runs Al-Dustour Arabic-language newspaper which reflects government views, will take over from Judeh at the information ministry and also replace him as government spokesman.
A new ministry of political affairs will be headed by Mussa Maayta, a left-leaning political activist who will be entering government for the first time, the official added.
About a dozen of the 27 ministers in the Dahabi government will be replaced or change portfolios.
Dahabi, a 62-year-old former air force officer, began consultations on Saturday to reshuffle his government. He has been prime minister since November 2007.
