Russia May Soon Add Canadian Dollar To Reserves -Central Banker
Moscow, 06.09.2010
MOSCOW -(Dow Jones)- Russia will be ready to add the Canadian dollar to its reserves in several weeks, First Deputy Central Bank Chairman Alexei Ulyukayev said in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper published Friday. "We are finishing up with some technical issues. It should be a matter of a few weeks," Ulyukayev said. Russia's reserves--the world's third largest at around $475 billion--consist of 46.4% dollars, 42.3% euros, 10.1% U.K. pounds and 1.2% Japanese yen. The central bank has said in the past that the share of Canadian dollars or other currencies it may add would be "very small." Ulyukayev also said that the central bank had no plans to change its euro holdings. "There are concerns about sovereign debt outside of the euro zone as well. So what does that mean, that we should be constantly changing our holdings?" he said. -By Ira Iosebashvili, Dow Jones Newswires; +7 495 232 9195; ira.iosebashvili@dowjones.com -0- (MORE TO FOLLOW) Dow Jones Newswires 09-03-10 0400ET odkaz na stránku
