| Wood-processing Company Kronospan Announces Mass Lay-offs |

| Presov, August 1 (TASR) - Presov-based wood-processing company Kronospan told the local labour office last week that it is about to make around 94 people redundant in the near future, company executive Dusan Sneider announced on Monday.
The management of the company is due to decide on the future fate of individual sections of the company during August.
"We announced the mass lay-offs based on a request made by the owners to start the notice periods off. This concerns 94 people. The number is only provisional, however, and it will depend on further moves," said Sneider, adding that the company hasn't gone bankrupt and is meeting its commitments to its business partners.
According to the labour office in Presov, the notice periods should be effective as of September 1.
The unemployment rate in the districts of Presov and Sabinov stands at 18.8 percent.
