Slovak households.
Bratislava, 05.06.2006
Slovak households borrow back an average Sk 26 of every Sk 100 that they deposit in banks. In 2000 it was just Sk 10. The reason motivating households to spend more rather than save is low interest rates. Although the indebtedness of households in Slovakia is rising, it is still considerably lower than in the Western European states or in the US. While the loans of Slovak households represent around 15% of GDP, in Western Europe it is four times higher.
