Bulgarian protests against austerity measures
Sofia, 30.11.2011
Thousands of workers from Bulgarian heavy industrial plants have marched through the capital, Sofia, in protest against low living standards and the closure of state enterprises. They carried banners with the slogan 'We want jobs and proper payment'. Correspondents say that -- despite tough measures to restructure Bulgarian industry agreed with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund,-- there have been delays to the sale of state owned factories and the closure of inefficient plants, with many enterprises drifting into insolvency.
