| The Coalition Board agreed that Smer would nominate 13 deputy ministers |
| Bratislava, 19.07.2006 |
 |
| Coalition partners did not face any major problem when forming the government manifesto, and the cabinet will present its program to parliament on August 1, informed PM Robert Fico after yesterday’s meeting of the Coalition Board.
The Coalition Board agreed that Smer would nominate 13 deputy ministers (it has 11 of 16 government posts), namely to the ministers of finance, foreign affairs, economy, defense, interior, culture, social affairs, education, justice, environment, agriculture, construction and regional de-velopment, as well as transport. SNS will have seven deputy ministers (ministries of finance, interior, culture, justice, agriculture, transport and healthcare) and HZDS six (foreign affairs, economy, social affairs, education, environment and con-struction).
So far the names of only several deputy ministers have been disclosed—for instance, Peter Žiga will serve as deputy economy minister, Peter Kazimir as deputy finance minister, Milan Mojs as deputy transport minister, or Martin Glvac (all Smer) as deputy construction and regional development minister.
PM Robert Fico will submit the name of the new director of the intelligence service SIS at the next government session (most likely today). Unofficial sources say that the new SIS director will be Bratislava’s regional prosecutor (and Fico’s alumni) Jaromir Cizmarik
