| Putin attends Russia-EU Summit 2012 |

| The freshly inaugurated President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, takes part in the Russia-EU Summit.
The summit takes place biannually in order to discuss the cooperation and the direction of development of the bilateral relations between Russia and the EU.
Russia is usually represented by the President and Ministers responsible for specific areas of cooperation with the European Union.
The EU is represented by the President of European Council, Herman van Rompuy, the President of European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton.
