| Slovakia will regain a 100% Transpetrol. |

| Slovakia will regain a 100% control over oil transport company Transpetrol, said economy minister Lubomir Jahnatek after a meeting with Yukos representatives. The buyback will take place immediately after a US bankruptcy court’s approval, which is expected by the end of the month.
In 2001 Yukos paid USD 74m (then equivalent to Sk 3.6bn) for the 49% Transpetrol stake. Slovakia should now buy back the stake for USD 100-120m (Sk 2.9-3.5bn). In the first phase the deal will burden the state budget.
To avoid deepening the budget deficit, the government will cover this sum through a bank loan at the end of the year. |
