| At his first working meeting with the new Slovak PM Robert Fico. |
| Brusel, 09.09.2006 |
|
| At his first working meeting with the new Slovak PM Robert Fico, the head of the European Commission José Manuel Bar-roso refused to criticize the composition of Fico’s coalition government, stating that he cooperates with all democratically elected leaders of EU member states. During the meeting Barosso also raised questions relating to the protection of minorities in Slovakia and said he had received personal assurances from the PM that the government would respect all rights.
Barroso is convinced that the countries’ leaders will resolve the series of attacks against Hungarian nationals living in Slo-vakia
