| This year’s wheat harvest will be around 160,000 tons lower than in 2005, and should reach 1.445m tons. According to the Slovak milling association SSM the lo-cal consumption of food wheat is around 550,000 tons. A bad harvest in the surrounding states has caused increased demand for Slovak output, which is reflected in growing prices as well. |
