| Burian with representatives of the Trenčín Regional chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry on opportunities for cooperation |
| Bratislava, 08.08.2014 |
 |
| State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Peter Burian received representatives of the Trenčín Regional chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) – its Chairman of the Board of Directors Boris Paulen and Director Ján Václav August 6, 2014.
The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry and the Regional Chamber through the carrying out of joint events to introduce the activities of economic diplomacy to Trenčín entrepreneurs, and to discuss various current issues related to the development of the global economy and the respective impact on the business environment. One of first events of this kind will be the SCCI Club meeting in Trenčín region under preparation already for this autumn.
State Secretary Burian appreciated the interest of the Trenčín region in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and stated that it is in the interest of the Ministry to transpose the activities of economic diplomacy to the regions. A possible core topic of the event is current developments vis-a-vis Russia and Ukraine, as well as the recently signed Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and EU from the perspective of their impact on the Slovak economy. Another topic will be the activities of economic diplomacy to promote the exports of Slovak companies, and a focus on regions with potential for Slovak companies in export and investment.
They agreed that the support of small and medium-sized enterprises is of special importance. “Our foreign business trips are designed to open doors for our companies and to create the political conditions for economic entrepreneurial activities. This is, in fact, the main mission of economic diplomacy,” said Burian at the meeting.
Another joint activity of the Ministry and the Trenčín SCCI may be the meeting of honorary consuls of the Slovak Republic planned for May 2015, during which the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry is interested in showcasing this region.
