| Economic diplomacy and branding dominated the Export and Investment Promotion Council meeting |
| Bratislava, 21.08.2014 |
 |
| Yesterday, the third session this year of the Export and Investment Promotion Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic – an advisory, coordinating and initiative body of the Government of the Slovak Republic for state aid involving international trade-and-economic cooperation and the presentation of Slovakia abroad – primarily focused on promotion of export and foreign investment inflow – was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák. Economic diplomacy today – and looking ahead to 2016 – as well as information about the state-of-play of the EU-US TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) agreement talks were at the top of the agenda. They also discussed the drafted executive protocol from the first meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the project of creating the brand of the Slovak Republic.
When discussing the latest information about the sanctions between the EU and the Russian Federation, the representatives of the entrepreneurs´ unions called upon the representatives of the Government of the Slovak Republic to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict – one that will prevent the escalation of mutual sanctions, which are leading to undesirable social and economic impacts on Slovakia. It was also agreed that the Economy Ministry of the Slovak Republic will continue in informational workshops on TTIP and its impact on the business sector.
