| State Secretary Burian on working visit to Sudan |

| State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Peter Burian paid a working visit to the Republic of the Sudan on September 24-26, 2014. Within his visit, he held talks with his counterpart, State Minister Kamil Ismail on opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation. During the discussion, they exchanged views on current regional and global issues. The State Minister appreciated "traditionally friendly relations with Slovakia – without negative elements”. “The Slovak experience from the transformation process can also serve as a valuable source of inspiration for Sudan,” he said. At the end of the meeting, both representatives signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation of the two foreign affairs ministries.
State Secretary Burian also discussed the mutual readiness to extend bilateral contacts with Speaker of the Sudanese Parliament Ahmed Ibrahim al-Tahir. The economic scope of the visit was highlighted by the talks with State Minister for investments, economy and local development Ali Mohamed Musa Tawer and Governor of Khartoum State and mayor of the capital city Abdulrahman al-Khidir, as well as the meeting with the management of the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation. All the meetings focused on identifying opportunities and forms of the future cooperation in trade and investments. Sudan positively reacted to the proposal to organize a business forum in Slovakia this fall.
State Secretary Burian shared the results of his talks with local media representatives in several interviews.
On the agenda, there was also a meeting with compatriots, as well as the Czech and Slovak Graduates Association.
