| The public discussion on branding of Slovakia |

| This December, the first phase of the public discussion on the new branding of Slovakia under preparation (published at the portal www.brandingslovenska.com) will culminate. This portal has been initiated by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic that coordinates the branding process. The portal, created by a group of students from the Faculty of Mass Media Communication, University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, enables all those interested to express their opinions on what kind of a country Slovakia is and how it should be presented abroad. The webpage also carries video interviews and blogs of people whose successful careers are interlinked with Slovakia.
At the end of this month (November 2014), President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska also became engaged in the discussion at the portal. In his video address, he described Slovakia as a “country of wonderful people that has something to offer the world” and pointed to the variety of natural, historic and cultural values Slovakia has to offer. According to Kiska, “resilience and will to work hard” are among the typical characteristics of Slovak men and women. As he highlighted, many foreign investors positively evaluate the high-quality work, technical proficiency and innovativeness of people in Slovakia.

Those interested in the identity of Slovakia and presentation of the country abroad can also register there portal and complete a short questionnaire. The completed questionnaires will be evaluated at the end of 2014, and the feedback obtained from the public will be important in determining the next steps of the new branding of Slovakia.
