Companies want subsidies from state to train students
Bratislava, 10.01.2015
The government will discuss a draft law on dual education aiming to connect schools with practice at today’s special session. If the new law to become effective the next school year, they need to deliver it to the parliament on today, the Education Ministry spokeswoman Beáta Dupaľová Ksenzsighová told the Pravda daily. According to the new legislation, students will have up to 40 percent of total study time devoted to the practical education. Firm hiring student working for it for more than 400 hours will be able to decrease tax basis by €3,200 per student. Firms which will hire student for 200-400 hours will be able to cut its tax base by €1,600 per student, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote. Though representatives of employers agree with dual education scheme to be implemented into the system, they have several objections to the draft law, with the most serious relating to finances. They propose state to pay fixed payment tariff from €1,000 to €2,000 to firms per student working more than 400 hours or €500 to €1,000 per student working less than 400 hours. “We will discuss the issue with employers during upcoming legislative process and look for solution acceptable for both sides,” Education Ministry spokesman Martin Dorčák told the Hospodárske noviny.
