Improving Slovak-Vietnamese trade and economic relations
Bratislava, 27.06.2015
Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Ho Dac Minh Nguyet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Slovak Republic, today (26 June) and highlighted the growing trade and economic relations between Slovakia and Vietnam. The partners appreciated their well-developing political relations, as also attested by the visit made by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, to Vietnam in November 2014. Slovakia is Vietnam’s second largest trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe and simultaneously one of its major markets in the European Union. “We are convinced there is high potential for strengthening bilateral economic ties,” stated Slobodník. The Slovak side proposed that both countries seek to find specific cooperation opportunities that will assist establishing equilibrium in the balance of trade. One of the prospective areas is nuclear energy, for which Slovakia can offer unique expertise. Besides that area, the partners underlined the opportunity to deepen cooperation in the defence industry. This year Slovakia and Vietnam marked the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. MZV
