| Slovakia can gain 40 projects of foreign investments worth Sk 32bn by the end of this year, according to economy minister Lubomir Jahnatek. These could create as many as 12,000 new jobs. Investment in-centives should represent around 20% of the investment volume. If Slovakia fails to approve them by the end of 2006 they will fall within a new regime, which will take effect on January 1, 2007, and which is less advantageous for the investors. The minister fears that in such a case, some of the investors would simply walk away. Therefore the government approved new, simpler rules for approving the FDI incentives that will be valid by the end of this year. |
