The first titular head of Turkmenistan accredited to SR presents copies of his credentials
Bratislava, 21.09.2015
The first-ever designation of an ambassador of Turkmenistan, resident in nearby Vienna, to represent his country as well in Slovakia, has created good prerequisites for development of bilateral relations, stated Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, during the reception for Silapberdi Nurberdiev, Ambassador Designate of the Republic of Turkmenistan to Slovakia, with residence in Vienna, on 18 September in Bratislava. During the meeting held on the occasion of presentation of copies of the ambassador’s credentials, the partners agreed on the need to establish a regular political dialogue and update the contractual basis between the countries. Both countries are interested in improving trade and the introductory dialogue has already revealed certain complementarities. Business forums, missions and establishing contact between chambers of trade of Slovakia and Turkmenistan may help to identify specific areas and projects. The officials also discussed Turkmenistan’s growing importance in the energy sector and energy security. Education, culture and tourism also offer opportunities for a closer partnership. State Secretary Slobodník said Slovak foreign policy has a Central Asian vector and he also spoke about the activities by Slovak diplomats who hold high positions in international organizations. MZV
