| Today is the International day of peace |
| Bratislava, 22.09.2015 |
|
| On 21st September the world commemorates the International Day of Peace established in 2001 by the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. This day is devoted to global peace and tolerance.
The United Nations, the most important world organisation integrating all - powerful and small, rich and poor, having interest in every human being - every year appeals to all Member States, regional and non-government organisations and individuals, to commemorate the International Day of Peace, stop fighting in conflict zones and include humanism, tolerance and mutual respect into education.
Today, when many countries are drawn into wars, when terrorism expels people from their homes, the mankind and the United Nations are facing the task to help restoring peace, strengthen inheritance of cooperation and human understanding.
The Slovak Republic respects Peace as the highest principle for creating values, protecting human rights and supporting development and prosperity. Slovakia recognises a leading role of the United Nations in issues of peace and actively supports its steps in preventing and solving conflicts. MZV |
