| Slovakia unveils the logo for its first Presidency of the Council of the EU |

| The logo that will present Slovakia during its first ever Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2016 was introduced to the public on Monday night. The logo was unveiled during the event titled “Europe in Slovakia” that was held in the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre and was organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
The logo is the key element of the visual identity of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU. It was authored by Jakub Dušička, a 23-year-old artist and designer from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, who has “drawn” his place into the history of Slovakia and the European Union as well. The winning logo design was the result of a public competition of more than 200 professional as well as lay contestants.
The presidency profiles in the Slovak language on Facebook with the name „Slovenské predsedníctvo v Rade EÚ“ (Slovak Presidency of Council of EU) and on Twitter under the user name @skpres2016 were “made live” at the same time as the presentation of the logo in Bratislava.
Beginning on 1 July 2016, Slovakia will chair for six months one of three most important European Union institutions, the Council of the EU that consists of the top officials of 28 member states. The Presidency will be a unique opportunity to present and promote Slovakia and also to increase awareness of the functioning and importance of the European Union in Slovakia.
