| A USA work visa is now valid for five years |

| In the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, on Thursday (February 18, 2016), Metod Špaček, Head of the International Law Department, MFEA SR, and Selena Nelson, Consular Officer, Embassy of the United States of America to Slovakia, exchanged verbal notes that, with effect as from January 1, 2016, ensure a longer validity of visas issued to Slovak citizens for employment purposes and other similar stays in the USA (26 categories altogether) from the previous two years to five years.
This is an initiative by the United States of America that has reciprocally responded to amended legislation of the Slovak Republic, namely the amendment to Act No. 5/2004 Coll. on Employment Services, effective from January 1, 2016, that has simplified the access of third-country nationals to the Slovak labour market by extending the period for which a work permit is granted from two years, before the amendment, to a maximum of five years now.MZV |
