| Minister Lajčák receives new Ambassador of Japan |

| Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Jun Shimmi, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Slovakia, who presented the copies of his credentials today in Bratislava.
Minister Lajčák appreciated the quality of bilateral relations and emphasized the interest of developing them not only in the political and economic areas but also in the areas of culture and science as well as an interest in intensifying contacts between the people in both countries. He highlighted also the importance and dynamics of cooperation at the regional level under the Visegrad Four and Japan format and also within multilateral relations between the European Union and Japan.
Minister Lajčák emphasized that these specific relations will acquire a new dimension within the countries’ bilateral relations when Slovakia assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in July.
