| Stats Office: Nominal Salary in Industry Up 2 percent Y-o-Y in June |

| Average nominal monthly salaries in June 2016 increased in construction by 7.5 percent year-on-year to 675, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Thursday.
Other increases in average nominal monthly salaries in June were: in restaurants and pubs by 6.3 percent to 402, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles by 6.1 percent to 917, in selected market services 5.9 percent to 869, in wholesale 5.7 percent to 869, in retail 4.4 percent to 623, in accommodation services 3.5 percent to 644, in transport and warehousing 2.2 percent to 853, and in industry 2 percent to 1,001.
A drop in the average nominal monthly salary in June 2016 was recorded only in information and communications activities by 1.2 percent to 1,708.
Average real monthly salaries rose y-o-y in June 2016 in the following categories: in construction by 8.4 percent, in restaurants and pubs 7.2 percent, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles 7 percent, in selected market services 6.8 percent, in wholesale 6.6 percent, in retail 5.2 percent, in accommodation services 4.3 percent, in transport and warehousing 3 percent, and in industry 2.8 percent.
A drop in the average real monthly salary was recorded only in information and communications activities by 0.4 percent.
Over the first six months of 2016, meanwhile, nominal monthly salaries increased when compared to the respective period of 2015 in the following categories: in the sale and repair of motor vehicles by 8.3 percent to 915, in construction 5.9 percent to 630, in transport and warehousing 5.8 percent to 827, in wholesale 5.3 percent to 851, in accommodation services 5.3 percent to 656, in selected market services 4.8 percent to 845, in restaurants and pubs 4.5 percent to 392, in retail 4.4 percent to 617, and in industry 3.5 percent to 973. They fell only in information and communications activities by 0.3 percent to 1,747.
Over the same six months of 2016 real monthly salaries increased y-o-y in the following sectors: in the sale and repair of motor vehicles by 8.9 percent, in construction 6.5 percent, in transport and warehousing 6.4 percent, in wholesale and in accommodation services both 5.9 percent, in selected market services 5.4 percent, in restaurants and pubs 5.1 percent, in retail 5 percent, in industry 4.1 percent, and in information and communications activities 0.3 percent.
