Diplomatic corps enchanted by the beauty of the Tatras region |
Bratislava, 18.05.2017 |
 |
Invited by Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák, more than 40 ambassadors accredited to the Slovak Republic visited the Tatras region on 12-13 May. The diplomats admired attractive World Heritage Sites listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as the beauty of the Slovak highest mountains - the High Tatras. They had a unique opportunity to become directly acquainted with cultural, historic and economic heritage of this region.
Having arrived at Poprad-Tatry airport, they visited the historic city of Levoča, where they were welcomed at the local City Hall and then they visited Church of St. James, with its world-renowned altar made by Master Paul. They also went to Spišský Hrad castle and wrapped up the day in Tatranská Lomnica. The representatives of the diplomatic corps appreciated the hospitality they encountered on their journey and highlighted the fantastic beauty of the Slovak cities and the Tatras nature. In his remarks at the end of the first day of their trip around Slovakia, Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Lajčák said he hoped that the ambassadors will choose this Slovak region as a future holiday destination for their friends and families.
On the second day, the ambassadors were able to experience more of the the High Tatras enchanting natural beauties. They especially liked the cable car from Skalnaté pleso mountain lake to Lomnický štít peak, as well as the Tatras panoramic view, which they could later see from Štrbské pleso mountain lake.
Many of them appreciated the high level of touristic infrastructure and services. And this is exactly one of the reasons why the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic continues this activity: to present Slovakia as a country where it is worth of spending holidays, as well as investing, and it is "Good Idea".
In past years diplomats already visited the Slovak regions of Košice, Nitra, Žilina and Trenčín.
