| State Secretary Parízek and Brazilian Ambassador discuss economic cooperation |

| State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Luká Parízek, received the incoming Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Slovak Republic, Luís Antonio Balduín Carneiro, today (29 May).
Both partners highlighted mutual cooperation so far and acknowledged the need to keep deepening it, especially in the economic area and in mutual trade exchange. The state secretary appreciated the importance of the Brazilian company Embraco that ranks among major employers in Eastern Slovakia and presents also an important investment in the wider region.
Parízek welcomed the effort by his Brazilian partner to establish a Brazilian-Slovak chamber of commerce that would present an important step towards strengthening the mutual economic relations between the countries.
The partners also discussed development of bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation, especially within the regional cooperation framework of the EU and CELAC (The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and also within international organizations. In the conclusion they acknowledged the need of a pragmatic approach to accelerate the negotiations on free trade agreement between the EU and MERCOSUR (the South American free trade association).
