| Bratislava, 02.02.2007 |

|
In a festive atmosphere, which included several high-ranking public officials, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic officially opened its new premises on February 1, 2007, in Hotel Crowne Plaza Bratislava. The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Róbert Fico, Prime Minister of SR; Ľubomír Jahnátek, Minister of Economy of SR; Ján Kubiš, Minister of Foreign Affairs of SR; H. E. Rodolphe Vallee, US Ambassador to Slovakia; Róbert Šimončič, President of AmCham Slovakia; and Jake Slegers, Executive Director of AmCham Slovakia.
AmCham Slovakia was indeed very pleased to have such a high level of representatives at its Grand Opening. In fact, so many people chose to attend this auspicious event that the capacity of the new offices was completely full to overflowing. We sincerely hope that our offices in Hotel Crowne Plaza will become a real hub of activity for AmCham members. Most recently, it became quite obvious that AmCham was truly in need of a bit more space and an upgrade in terms of representative offices. Over the past seven years, AmCham has more than doubled its membership and dramatically increased the quality and quantity of its membership services. With well over 300 members, AmCham currently represents over 360 billion SK in annual turnover, which is more than 20% of Slovakia’s GDP. AmCham now hosts over 100 events annually, and is involved in a great variety of projects, topics and issues.
The significant growth of AmCham in the past few years was acknowledged by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of SR - Ján Kubiš, who said that “AmCham has become a very active and important organization, providing many useful services to its members, helping to improve conditions for doing business in Slovakia, as well as contributing to an intensive dialogue between the United States and Slovak Republic.“
