| Statement of the MFA of the Slovak Republic on Kosovo |

| The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic welcomed the presentation of the proposal for the Kosovo future status solution, which SE UNSG M. Ahtisaari delivered in Belgrade and Pristina on February 2nd, 2007. The proposal contains a lot of positive elements establishing the preconditions for the protection of minorities and strengthening the multhienic and democratic society in Kosovo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic also welcomed the intention of the SE UNSG M. Ahtissari to initiate consultations between the both parties. These consultations will allow parties to adjust their positions closer to a negotiated solution and to modify them according to results of the upcoming consultations.
The Slovak Republic intends to take substantial position to the above-mentioned proposal after the consultations process is finished and the final proposal on the future status of Kosovo is presented to the UN Security Council. odkaz na stránku |

The term Kosovo War or Kosovo Conflict is often used to describe two sequential and at times parallel armed conflicts (a civil war followed by an international war) in Kosovo. These conflicts were:
1996–1999: Conflict between Serbian and Yugoslav security forces and the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), an ethnic Albanian guerilla group seeking independence for the province.
