The number of Slovaks working abroad is decreasing
Bratislava, 10.10.2017
Slovaks returning from abroad are taking one quarter of the new jobs created by Slovakia’s economy Slovaks working abroad for a short-term period are returning home and finding jobs in Slovakia. Analysts of Tatra Banka came to this conclusion when looking more closely at data from Eurostat, the statistics office of the European Union. Based on these, almost 150,000 Slovaks worked abroad during the second quarter of 2017. This is less than, for example, during the fourth quarter of 2007 when the number of such people exceeded 185,000, the Denník N daily wrote. Since the final quarter of 2016, the number of Slovaks working abroad for short period of times has been decreasing on annual terms and the decline is even accelerating. “One can say that one quarter of the new jobs in Slovakia’s economy was taken by people returning from abroad,” claims Tatra Banka. odkaz na stránku
