State-of-the-art power plant in Malženice will be switched on again
Malženice, 19.04.2018
The German power company E.ON has two reasons to resume its operation A state-of-the-art steam-gas power plant in Malženice, Trnava Region, is expected to resume its operation this summer after a five-year break. The German power company E.ON has at least two reasons to resume its operation: there is a much better situation on the electricity market and it may be put up for sale. Vladimír Pestún, general director of the E.ON Elektrárne company, confirmed this information for the energoklub.sk website. Last year, electricity prices increased to a level high enough to start thinking about switching on the power plant in Malženice. There is also a possibility that E.ON will sell the facility. In such a case, the company has to show that the switched-off power plant is able to operate fully. The power plant, with the installed output of 436 MW, only generated electricity between 2011 and 2013. Its construction cost more than €430 million and it was one of the biggest investments in the Slovak energy sector of the last decade. With its 59 percent efficiency, it belongs among the most effective in Europe. Due to low electricity prices on the market, E.ON decided to switch it off in the autumn of 2013. odkaz na stránku
