| Korčok receives representatives of American Jewish Committee |

| On Tuesday (29 May 2018), State Secretary Ivan Korčok received at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic a delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) lead by Rabbi Andrew Baker, Director of AJC for International Jewish Affairs who also serves as the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on combating antisemitism. The visit of the AJC representatives to Bratislava took place as part of regular dialogue between the Slovak Republic and this significant organisation advocating for the interest of the Jewish community in the world.
In the light of this year’s significant anniversaries, such as the independence of the Slovak Republic and the establishment of Czechoslovakia, both sides appreciated the traditionally good relations between the American Jewish community and the Slovak Republic. “The Slovak Republic is committed to further fight expressions of extremism, antisemitism and holocaust denial by means of legal instruments and also via active communication,“ stated Korčok. “The upcoming chairmanship of Slovakia of the OSCE as well as Slovakia’s membership in the UN Council for Human Rights will be a good opportunity to do so.”
State Secretary Korčok also informed the partners about key challenges Slovakia and the EU face. The partners agreed on the necessity to maintain and strengthen transatlantic ties that have been connecting the two continents for generations. “In these turbulent times we need more than ever to remind ourselves on both sides of the Atlantic how important the transatlantic alliance is for our security and prosperity,“ said Korčok.
