| Slovak Foreign Affairs State Secretary Ružička attends Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean |

František Ružička, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, attended the 3rd session of the Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona, Spain on Monday (8 October 2018). The EU representatives and those from other areas of the Mediterranean region assessed 10 years of UfM’s activities and discussed the further inclusive development of human potential and sustainable development in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
State Secretary Ružička gave an address at the plenary session and also explained the priorities for Slovakia’s upcoming OSCE Chairmanship. “I would like to invite the partner countries to actively participate in the annual conference of the OSCE Mediterranean Contact Group to be held in Malaga, Spain on 25-26 October 2018 with the objective to endorse cooperation among OSCE member countries and the Mediterranean.
The Union for the Mediterranean, seated in Barcelona, is an intergovernmental organization associating 28 EU member states and 15 countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. It was launched in 2008 at the initiative of France to restart the Euro-Mediterranean partnership (Barcelona Process). It is also a forum for dialogue, as well as for implementing concrete projects and initiatives to meet three strategic objective of the region: stability, human development and integration.
