| State Secretary Parízek meets Ambassador of Cuba on developing economic relations, cooperation in healthcare and issues in the UN |

| Luká Parízek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received today (17 October 2018) Yamila Pita Montes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Slovak Republic, upon her request. Both partners highlighted the existing mutual cooperation in energy, informatics, culture and biotechnologies. State Secretary Parízek emphasized that there is significant potential for deepening relationships.
Ambassador Pita Montes opened discussion on current developments at the UN and asked for support for the Resolution against the US embargo that Cuba submits every year. The Slovak Republic regularly votes unanimously with other EU member countries in favour of this resolution.
In the end the Ambassador of Cuba appreciated the good direction of the dialogue between Cuba and the European Union.
