| Slovak Companies Still Make Little Use of State Support for Export Activities. We Must Communicate More Together |

| The session of the Regional Club of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Banská Bystrica today (27 March 2019), under the auspices of Lukáš Parízek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, opened another year of regional discussions of business people with representatives of the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry and Ministry of Economy on export opportunities. The presentations and discussions focus on the forms of state aid for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as the exchange of experiences in the support of exports.
Slovakia has recorded an 8 % export growth year-on-year in 2018. There is a positive balance in foreign trade with countries of the European Union; however, we go into red figures in the trade with Asia, and open markets of the African continent represent new challenges for our companies. Only 12 % of Slovak exports go outside OECD member countries.
“The Slovak economic diplomacy represents a strong and efficient support in the world for companies of various sizes, non-profit organizations, health care institutions, universities and experts,” said Parízek. The Ministry’s competencies also include the Norway Grants, the Swiss Financial Mechanism, and calls of the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation.
The participation of Slovak companies in development cooperation represents a modern, efficient form of export development. International commitments create opportunities for domestic producers and service providers in the areas where Slovakia has extensive experience – in energy, water management, informatization and waste management. The current call for Slovak SMEs valued at a half million euros is open until 7 May 2019. It also includes the subsidy for analytical activities, data collection and information, expert reviews and certifications of Slovak companies in developing countries.
