| Lavrov attends Council of Europe 70th Anniversary in Helsinki |

| Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended the 129th Session of the Committee of Ministers held in Helsinki’s Finlandia Hall on Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
In addition to holding bilateral talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on the sidelines of the event, Lavrov is expected to hold talks with Belgium’s Didier Reynders and Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland.
The event brings together all 47 Member States of the Council of Europe. They are expected to discuss the future of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Finland will then hand over the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to France.
