| Foreign trade development in August 2019 and in the first eight months of 2019 |

| In August 2019, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 5 991,1million with a 2,8 % year-on-year decrease. The total import of goods decreased by 1,1 % to EUR 6 203,1 million. The foreign trade balance was in deficit in the value of EUR 212 million (by EUR 103,2 million higher than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-August 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, the total export of goods increased by 2,6 % to EUR 52 561,4 million and the total import by 5,1 % to EUR 52 053,6 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 507,8 million (by EUR 1 182,5 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-August 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the EU Member States increased by 1 % and it represented 84,1 % of the total export. Import from the EU Member States represented 67,7 % of the total import and it grew by 7,1 %, year-on-year.
In January-August 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the non-EU countries increased by 12,4 % and it represented 15,9 % of the total export. Import from the non-EU countries represented 32,3 % of the total import and it increased by 1,1 %, year-on-year.
In the foreign trade of the SR, the most traded SITC section was Machinery and transport equipment with a share of 62,1 % of the total export and 49,8 % of the total import.
In August 2019, after seasonal adjustment, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 641,3 million with a year-on-year growth by 0,1 %. The total import of goods increased by 1,8 % to EUR 6 634,4 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 6,8 million (by EUR 115,5 million lower than in
August 2018).
