| Ukraine Gains the Status of Alliance Partner Country with Enhanced Cooperation Opportunities |

The Slovak Republic welcomes the inclusion of Ukraine among the partner countries of the North Atlantic Alliance with enhanced possibilities for practical cooperation (EOP). The decision, which was supported today by all the allies, is a sign of the appreciation of the significant cooperation between Ukraine and NATO to date. The enhanced partnership will enable the Ukrainian government to meet its objectives of increasing the interoperability of the armed forces by participating in specific Alliance programs and exercises.
The Slovak Republic recognizes the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. A democratic and stable Ukraine is important for maintaining the security and stability of the entire Euro-Atlantic area. The Slovak Republic is assisting Ukraine in the practical sphere also through the NATO Trust Fund for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Improvised Explosive Devices (EOD/C-IED), in which Slovakia is the leading country. This is a demonstration of solidarity with a country afflicted by an armed conflict, as well as the proof of our capabilities to be able to contribute to building the security of the country.
