Malting field day
Bratislava, 10.05.2021
The Slovak Association of Beer and Malt Producers (SZVPS) and the Central Agricultural Inspection and Testing Institute (ÚKSÚP) in Bratislava have launched the Malting Field Field Cooperation project. Climate change is increasingly affecting the production of barley malt, the most important plant agricultural commodity after the first processing in Slovakia. He explained that in cooperation with breeders and seed suppliers, it tests which varieties of malting barley are best for cultivation in Slovakia, are able to withstand climate change, and thus bring the desired effect to the grower and processor."We are not waiting for the effects of climate change, but we are preparing intensively for them. All seven Slovak malting plants are primarily interested in domestic, Slovak malting barley. Malt is not only a key commodity for beer production. "Only water and heat are used to process malting barley into malt," said Machalík,According to Machalík, 22 different varieties of spring malting barley were sown as part of the Malting Field Day project. Machalík added that in the current year, Slovak malting barley processors are increasing malt production by 9.5%. The total estimated consumption of malting barley will be 370,000 tons "So zmenou klímy sa mení aj zloženie požadovaných odrôd sladovňami. The Slovak Association of Beer and Malt Producers unites beer and malt producers in Slovakia. It represents producers and maltsters producing 96% of the Slovak beer market and 98% of the malt market. odkaz na stránku
