Uncertain voters to decide France’s EU future
Paris, 08.04.2022
The French electorate is set on Sunday (11 April) to choose the top two candidates for president but the outcome of the first round of voting has become increasingly uncertain, with forecasts of record-low turnout and doubt about voters’ choices. This year’s French election has become of crucial importance given the current geopolitical context, France’s diplomatic role, its place in the European continent, and its ongoing EU Council presidencey, set to end in June. In total, 12 candidates are running, including incumbent President Emmanuel Macron, far-right candidates Marine Le Pen and Éric Zemmour, Valérie Pécresse for the centre-right and the radical left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon. odkaz na stránku
