| Referendum regarding early election in January |

| The referendum on the introduction of new options to call for an early election will be held on January 21, 2023, President Zuzana Caputova announced on Thursday. The referendum will contain a single question on whether the people agree to introduce the option to hold early elections either by a referendum or a decision by Parliament. Initiated by Smer-SD together with other opposition parties, the referendum was originally supposed to contain two questions. The second one concerning the instant resignation of the incumbent government was deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court, however, and thus will not be included. Caputova pointed out that the referendum does not contain any time limits for when referenda on early elections should be held in the future. She believes that setting up such time constraints would be beneficial for the stability of democracy.odkaz na stránku |
