| Soft drinks with added sugar are to be subject to a new tax |

| Soft drinks with added sugar or sweeteners, whether they are regular packaged drinks, syrups or energy drinks, are to be subject to a new excise duty from next year. This follows from the draft law on the tax on sweetened non-alcoholic beverages, which the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic moved to the second reading on Tuesday.He estimates that in 2025, the new tax should bring more than 79 million euros to the budget, followed by 108 million euros in 2026 and 110 million euros in 2027.
