Moscow, 21.10.2024
According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the creation of a common currency of the BRICS countries is not yet being considered. TASR reports on the basis of a report by the TASS agency. "As for the common currency of the BRICS countries, we are not considering this issue at the moment, it is not mature. We should be very careful, in this regard we must act gradually, without haste," the Russian leader said on Friday (18/10) at a meeting with representatives of leading media from the BRICS countries. Putin further said that BRICS members are currently working on creating a system for exchanging financial information between their central banks. This could serve as an alternative to the SWIFT international clearing system, from which Russia is currently cut off as a result of Western sanctions. The possibilities of expanding the use of national currencies and creating instruments enabling safe cooperation between member states in this area are being explored, the president added. "We are considering the possibility of using electronic tools. It is necessary, and is being worked on. odkaz na stránku
