The trip to China is extremely important, it is the trip of the year 2024 |

The working trip of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to China is extremely important, during which thirteen documents will be signed and will include a meeting with the highest representatives of this Asian power. Fico said this after Wednesday's government meeting, who also rejected the opposition's criticism. According to her, the prime minister's trip is contrary to the national and economic interests of Slovakia.
"China is becoming a decisive global player and I even think that the settlement of the dispute in Ukraine will not be possible without China's active participation," Fico said. He added that this is a country that has 1.5 billion inhabitants, is stable and guarantees peace and a certain degree of balance not only in the region but also around the world.
The prime minister also rejected reservations that his trip threatens the economy of Slovakia. According to Fico, if anyone threatens the economy of the Slovak Republic, it is the Green Deal approved by the EU. According to him, the company will experience difficult economic times next year as a result of its decisions. As an example, he cited tariffs on Chinese electric cars and the expected retaliation from China.
According to the Prime Minister, the visit to China does not threaten Slovak democracy either. "The biggest threat to Slovak democracy is our system of political parties, we have a hundred political parties here. We have things that threaten Slovak democracy much more than anything in the world. My visit to China does not threaten democracy in Slovakia in any way," he stressed.
He also denied that the visit would threaten the country's security. "Security has been endangered by opposition MPs and politicians who have weakened Slovakia's defence capability by donating MiGs and an air defence system," said the Prime Minister.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) is convinced that the trip to China also makes sense in terms of security, pointing to China's possible role as a peacemaker in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. "At the last meeting of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments, we talked about a peace conference that is to take place by the end of the year. The Ukrainian side asked us to talk to their representatives in China about China's participation in this conference. Because the settlement of this conflict does not seem to be possible without the assistance and involvement of global players such as China," Blanár added.
The prime minister added that he still has an important trip to Brazil ahead of him, where he is to meet, among other things, with the Brazilian president. "Of course, we have important journeys ahead of us next year. This is Vietnam. We want to go where we see business opportunities, it is useless for us to go on visits to Europe, where practically all possibilities are exhausted, we have to look for new opportunities," Fico added.odkaz na stránku |
