Slovaks will be able to travel to China for a period of up to 15 days without a visa. Slovakia, on the other hand, is ready to introduce a direct air connection between Bratislava and Beijing. This was stated on Friday by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), who is on an official visit to China together with ministers and businessmen.
As he said in a video on social media after talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, they agreed on a strategic partnership, which will allow deepening cooperation not only between governments but also business sectors. However, according to him, the negotiations mainly concerned energy and infrastructure projects. He pointed to two large Chinese investments that are currently underway or are already underway in Slovakia, namely the construction of a Volvo car plant in eastern Slovakia and preparatory work for a plant for the production of batteries for electric cars in the Nitra region. At the same time, he opened a business forum with the participation of hundreds of Slovak and Chinese entrepreneurs.According to Fico, one of the key topics was the conflict in Ukraine. He added that China can play a decisive role in this.
The Slovak prime minister is still waiting for a meeting with the speaker of the Chinese parliament and the Chinese president. He added that at these meetings, the Slovak delegation wants to revisit the issues of strengthening economic relations between the countries, but also other foreign policy issues, especially the war in Ukraine.
