The EC is against cooperation between Russian and European companies |

The proposal by European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen to impose sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) means that the Commission is against cooperation between Russian and European businesses and is not satisfied with the rapprochement between Russia and the United States, the fund's director Kirill Dmitriev said on Tuesday. TASR reports this based on a report by the TASS agency.
“The head of the European Commission recognizes that the RDIF is an important channel for financing projects to modernize the Russian economy and strengthen its industrial base. Ursula von der Leyen’s statements are related to the fact that the European Union wants the war in Ukraine to continue, is extremely dissatisfied with the RDIF’s activities to restore relations between Russia and the United States and with Russia’s participation in peace initiatives. The proposal to impose sanctions on the RDIF also means that the European Commission is against the interaction between Russian and European business, which the fund actively helps in Russia,” said Dmitriyev, who also serves as the Russian President’s special envoy for foreign economic cooperation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Leyen proposed imposing sanctions on the RDIF, its subsidiaries and investment projects. “This will severely limit an important channel for financing projects to modernize the Russian economy and strengthen its industrial base,” the EC President said.
