There is a high proportion of bankruptcies where creditors do not receive a single euro. |

In Slovakia, there is an extremely high proportion of bankruptcies, from which creditors do not receive a single euro. Today, for many debtors, enforcement is a way to wait out several years without serious complications. This was stated on Wednesday by the Association of Slovak Collection Companies (ASINS) on the occasion of organizing the third annual conference Creditors/Collection/Receivables, which, among other things, also addressed the overall decline in trust in the institution of debt relief.
"In the past, enforcement was a scarecrow and debtors wanted to avoid it. Today, however, the situation is the opposite. Debtors who want to specifically get rid of their debts welcome enforcement. Unfortunately, the system itself is currently set up in such a way that it does not force the enforcement agents themselves to effectively enforce. The low efficiency of enforcement thus affects not only banks, but also ordinary people who have lent money to someone and subsequently cannot get it back," explained ASINS President Martin Musil.
In 2023, the state was to adjust the scope of wage deductions so that a debtor with a net income of 1,100 euros would have a maximum of 200 euros deducted. According to the association, this significantly tilted the rules in favor of debtors. The system is set up so that debtors often ask their creditors to initiate enforcement proceedings against them, the association emphasized.
In order to prevent excessive debt relief for people who are able to pay their debts, it is necessary to make the institution of a lawsuit to cancel debt relief operational, ASINS appeals. Artificial intelligence could help analyze documents, predict the success of recovery, and improve communication with debtors.
"Artificial intelligence in the credit management and receivables management industry is no longer just a technological trend, but a strategic tool that fundamentally changes the way companies manage finances, optimize processes and communicate with customers," added Musil. According to the association, maintaining ethical principles and protecting debtors' privacy is key.
