Bratislava, 01.06.2026
The best Slovak beers of 2026 were announced on Thursday (May 28) in Bratislava at the gala evening of the 19th annual Slovak Beer Crown (SPK) competition. A record number of 44 breweries from Slovakia competed in 12 categories, submitting 244 samples, the most in the history of the competition. At the event, personalities from the brewing and malting industries were also honored for their extraordinary contributions. This was stated by Vladimír Machalík, executive director of the Slovak Association of Beer and Malt Producers (SZVPS), which organizes the competition. "Slovakia has a strong community of brewers who prove their mastery of brewing beer every day across the country. Despite the challenging market situation, there are still enough people with passion and determination in Slovakia, as evidenced by the largest number of registered breweries and samples in the two decades of the competition. The public will be able to taste the quality and diversity of Slovak beer at the Slovak Beer Crown Festival on June 5-6 at Náměstí slobody in Bratislava. A record number of 19 domestic breweries from across the country will participate, which is also the most in history," Machalík specified. In the most popular consumer categories of pale lagers, the first place in the filtered beer category went to Hurbanov. Heineken Slovensko won the gold crowns for the filtered ten Corgoň 10% and the filtered twelve Corgoň 12%. The best light unfiltered ten was brewed in Nitrianské Pravno, in the Galgenberg Brewery, namely Galgenberg 10°. The unit in the category of mixed non-alcoholic radler drinks comes from Hurbanov, namely the Zlatý Bažant Radler 0.0% Citrón, Baza, Měta from Heineken Slovensko. The jury in the category of non-alcoholic beers this year awarded the best Nilio Great Warrior from the Nilio Brewery from Liptovský Mikuláš.
